Teen and Junior Teen Judging Criteria
The Miss Kentucky
Teen America Organization is looking for young women that possess the entire package of personality, poise, intelligence,
and beauty to represent the Bluegrass State! Each contestant will receive a score between 1 and 25 in each
category of competition for a total of 100 points.

INTERVIEW COMPETITION Contestants will have the opportunity to express themselves on current issues and attitudes that affect her and her
community, as well as her personal successes, hobbies, community involvement and ambitions. The judges will be looking for
a young woman with a strong sense of reasoning, who can articulate her opinions effectively. Interviews will be in the form
of a panel interview with the judges. For the panel interview, you will begin with a 30-second introduction, followed by 4
minutes of Q&A seated in front of a panel of judges. You will be meeting with the judges for the first time and
therefore it is most important that you select an outfit that you feel will enhance your image, without drawing attention
away from what you have to say.
FITNESS COMEPTITION
Aerobic wear may be one or two pieces, but must be form
fitting. Pants, capris, and skirts are not allowed. Aerobic shoes should be worn with aerobic wear. No props or aerobic routines
are allowed. Judges will be looking for the individual who is physically fit, energetic and healthy, with a strong sense of
self-esteem.
FASHION MODELING Each contestant will model an outfit of her choice. It must be age appropriate and it should portray her teen spirit.
No high glitz attire will be permitted; however, off the rack clothing containing rhinestone, sequin or other glitz accents
are permitted. This is the fun outfit! Please select something that is definitely teen trendy! Remember to keep your
wardrobe age appropriate.
EVENING GOWN Contestants will be judged on grace, poise and elegance of carriage during their presentation. All gowns must be
floor length, and age appropriate. No midriff cutouts or slits higher than 4 inches above the knee are allowed. Any cutouts
in the bodice of the gown must not show deep cleavage and should be approved prior to competition to avoid loss of points.
